I made this unique 3-D rain cloud in my 3-D art class at school. I took all of my old tape cassette covers and broke them to recycle them into the cloud part. I used the actual tape cassettes to make them into the rain part of the piece. I used glittered card stock for the numbers, and I hand glittered the backs of all the numbers so that they were completely covered in silver glitter. I spray painted all of the cassette covers 6 different shades and finishes of grey. I spray painted the tapes black. I hot-glued all of it to a canvas that measures 30" W x 24" H x 5" D. The meaning behind this piece is, the cloud represents the way in which we listen to music in modern times-over the cloud, on the internet. The tape cassettes represent the way we used to listen to music, and the tapes are organized to look like a barcode, which is how we used to purchase music. The paper numbers represent the barcode numbers, but also spell out: 867-5309, which is a song from the 1980's called, "Jenny 867-5309."
